This collection consists of two components, Eckart's reprint collection and manuscripts for his last book, Our Modern Idol. The reprint collection actually includes reprints, preprints, manuscripts of publications sent to Eckart for comment, mimeographed notes of seminars, lecture notes and other notes made or received by Eckart, photographs, negatives, slides and a few reports of sponsored research. The reprint collection includes correspondence, but this consists almost entirely of letters of transmittal. It also includes a few course descriptions including courses in physical oceanography offered at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography and notes on early course offered at the UCSD Dept. of Physics. The reprint collection also contains some photographs, slides, and lantern slides.
